Letter from Senator Sanders to CCV Faculty

Dear CCV Colleague: August 20, 2017

We are thrilled to share this with you. Click here to read the letter from Senator Bernie Sanders in support of our campaign to organize a union at CCV.

Bernie is a long-time advocate of higher education and the right of working people to join unions. We met with Bernie’s staff some months ago and he is supporting our efforts because he knows that when we form a union we will improve CCV for faculty and our students.

As you know, a majority of CCV faculty have already said YES to moving forward to join the Vermont State Colleges Faculty Federation, AFT Vermont, the union that already represents the rest of the full-time and part-time faculty teaching in the VSC system.

Together we can:

* Advocate for our students
* Have a voice at the legislature
* Negotiate a contract that addresses our collective priorities

We have an agreement with the CCV administration that the Vermont Labor Relations will conduct a mail ballot election beginning September 15. Once a majority vote yes, we will begin negotiations for our first contract

As we organize our union, CCV faculty from across Vermont have been meeting together and reaching out to our colleagues to plan our future. We invite you to join us
